Hello,

While looking at a few ces 2010 video's I saw a few new plugs announced.
All centered on the new armada (310?) chip and with a few different configurations
 * internal HDD,bluetooth,wifi
 * Dual eth-ports
 * Multiple usb-ports
And combinations of these.

However, I cant' find any information on the plug provider sites (newit, ionics, globalscale)

Anyone any idea if and when these new plugs will be available?

Hi,

Interesting  BUT  all the Globscale "GURU PLUGS appear to be Kirkwood processor, not Armada, 1.2 Ghz not 2Ghz

see:-

(click on arrows for complete range)

cheers

Speed v's ports  - I'll take BT WiFi and a second USB(nevermind the 3rd mini usb) any day. It gives me a cracking product than just an amazing product. Can I wait 2 months..

See http://www.ionicsplug.com for the Hottest and Latest. Some are already available now. Others are working prototypes undergoing further tests to for mass pro, according to them

One important thing I can't understand from the specs: is the serial console port still included in the base unit? Or I need to buy http://www.globalscaletechnologies.com/p-28-guruplug-jtag.aspx too to access the serial console?

According to this diagram:
http://www.globalscaletechnologies.com/t-guruplugdetails.aspx#block
UART0 (the console) and JTAG are not on the default plug.  They are on the debug module you linked to.

However, since there is a connector to attach to the debug module, the pins for that stuff are visible without opening the Plug.  This looks prime for "hacking". Smiley

Currently (until 2/28/2010) the website stated that you got a free JTAG with the purchase of a server plus (which I was ordering, so I have no idea if it is included with the server). I was having a heck of a time with the site last night, it kept dropping my cart and login, but finally got through and got my purchase confirmation. Today the site appears to be completely down.

Looking forward to this one. The wifi is especially useful. One thing I forgot to check was whether it could be configured as a wireless bridge... With 2 ethernet ports and wireless, it would not be huge, but it could be used to interface a couple network devices.

Sounds like someone there was reading the requests in this forum for what the next generation could perform. It still is not utilizing the Kirkwood to its maximum (it would be nice if there were at least breakout connectors or pads internally for all the extra features) but it is a nice improvement.

We might need to start separate hardware forums for the SheevaPlug (and relatives) and the GuruPlug just to help keep projects aligned.
