I was attempting to upgrade my kernel and root file system (built-in flash). I wasn't reading the directions very close (the Marvell pdf), and didn't nfs boot. Instead, I used ubuntu that was installed on the plug. Long story short, I've managed to erase the kernel and the root file system. And once the root file system was erased, of course I couldn't write the new kernel and fs on to the plug becuase I'd 'erased' the binary Smiley

uboot is still working - I'm currently running "U-Boot 1.1.4 (Jul 19 2009 - 16:03:28) Marvell version: 3.4.19"

So, how do i get a kernel and FS back on my plug!? I've got the uimage6 kernel and the ubuntu 9.05 jffs2 filesystem downloaded. I can tftp, but i'm not sure what to do next...

any help would be *greatly* appreciated!!

Thanks!

If erased Kernel AND rootfs, it would be the easiest to run the Sheevaplug installer

http://www.openplug.org/plugwiki/index.php/SheevaPlug_Installer

The other solution in rough terms (if you are realy interrested)

Create your own initrd with busybox and the jffs2 or ubifs tools. TFTP transfer Kernel and initrd to plug. Boot into initrd. Create flash partition. FTP Transfer the rootfs tarball to system. Unpack. Put Kernel on the flash partition.
